Macklin Celebrini and the case for paying up in dynasty leagues

Young centres with real roles rarely come cheap. Here is why this one is still worth the asking price.

Dynasty managers spend a lot of time looking for the next star, and they often forget how valuable it is to own one who has already arrived. Macklin Celebrini is young, plays a central role in San Jose and already carries his team's offence in a way few players his age ever do.

The usual argument against paying full price is that the team around him is still developing. We see that differently. A young centre who gets every opportunity now tends to keep those opportunities as the roster improves.

If you can pay in draft picks or in an aging veteran, it is a deal worth making. Long-term value at centre is very hard to find later.

So what would you pay for him in a points league?

Thank you for not just repeating what everyone else is saying.

I had the opposite experience, but my league's scoring is unusual.

Good point. I hadn't looked at the schedule that way.

You're not wrong. I made that move last year and regretted it.

Agreed. Too many people panic after one bad week.
