Start or sit: how to break a tie between two good receivers
Rankings get you most of the way there. These are the questions we ask when two wide receivers look identical.
By Marcus Bell · · 1 min read
Nobody needs help deciding to start Ja'Marr Chase, CeeDee Lamb or Puka Nacua. The harder calls come further down your roster, where two receivers look almost the same on paper and the wrong choice costs you a week.
Start with the target share, then look at how those targets are earned. A receiver who sees deep passes has more big-play upside but also more quiet games. One who catches short passes offers a safer floor, which is what you want when you are the favourite.
If you are expecting a close matchup, choose the safer player. If you are the underdog, choose the one who can change a week on a single catch. Thinking about your own matchup is the simplest edge available.

I'd take the other side of this, but I respect the argument.

Agree with most of this, but the last point depends a lot on your league's scoring.
